this course examines contemporary translation and interpretation theories. Several commonly recognized differing approaches to translation and basic principles of interpretation will be studied. this course is designed to prepare the student with a number of different theoretical view of translating and interpreting, the application of the concept and principles of translating and interpreting to provide the student with the skills of translating and interpreting English from various setting and genre of text, speech, report, etc. those are in the various disciplines such as education, literature, science, medicine, history, sport, philosophy and so on. Possible topics offered will be: perspectives on translation, issues and debates in translation studies; translating; modeling the process, text and discourse, text analysis in translation, differences between translating and interpreting, types of interpreting,  modes of interpreting, the process of interpretation, code of ethics of translators and interpreters. This course also aims to lead students to write a research proposal on translation/interpretation-related issues and design a translation course. Class activities will include discussion translation/interpretation-related issues.
